Caramel apples are a great fall treat and are often associated with the holidays. Even though caramel apples are one of fall’s most favorite treats, when caramel gets on your carpet, it can be a major nightmare. When you discover caramel candy has gotten stuck on your carpets, do not panic. Steam Masters will share how to remove caramel candy from carpets below.
Get Chunks of Caramel Out of Carpet
When you have a chunk of caramel on your carpet you will need to be careful on how you remove the caramel. Caramel can easily spread and become a bigger problem. When you discover the caramel on the carpet, you will need to remove as much of the caramel as possible. To remove the bulk of the caramel in the carpet, use a dull knife or a tool to scrape up the caramel. Once you have removed most of the caramel you will need to remove the remaining residue. To remove caramel you will want to use liquid dish soap with warm water. For the proper mixture, use a cup of warm water with a few drops of liquid dish soap. Do not make it too soapy.
Treat Caramel Candy Stain on Carpet
Soak a white cleaning cloth in the solution and wring it out until the cloth is damp. Next, begin blotting at the caramel, resist the temptation to scrub at the caramel. Scrubbing the caramel will simply spread the caramel and make the caramel get stuck deeper into the carpet. Your first goal is to remove as much residue as possible. To remove the remaining pieces of the caramel, you may need to create a stronger mixture. Use 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water and mix it together. This should not only remove the remainder of the caramel, but also the stain. Using a white cloth, wet and wring it out so it is damp like before. Again use a blotting technique to clean up the stain and caramel residue. When removing any stain or substance on the carpet, you should always start on the outside and make your way inwards. Additionally, when cleaning a stain it is important to use a white, clean cloth. A colored cloth can bleed and dye the carpet, resulting in a stain.
Rinse Caramel Carpet Stain
Once you have successfully removed all of the caramel and stain, you will need to rinse the area. Pour a small amount of water over the site. Using a dry white cloth, press down over the water to absorb the water into the cloth. Repeat pouring clean water over the site and press down with the dry cloth to remove the soapy residue and the vinegar. After rinsing and absorbing up as much moisture as possible, you will want to allow the area to dry. You can use a fan to help dry out the carpet faster. Once the carpet is dry, you can vacuum the carpet to restore the carpet texture.
