If the blood is still wet, spray or pour cold water on the blood and blot it away with a clean, white cloth. Repeat as many times as you need to.
– Hydrogen Peroxide: If you are going to use hydrogen peroxide on your blood stain, you need to test the carpet for colorfastness first as hydrogen peroxide can cause some discoloration to occur. If your carpet passes the test, you can saturate a cotton swab and dab the carpet with it. You should let it sit for up to an hour before carefully blotting up the stain with a clean cloth.
– OxiClean: OxiClean is a great tool in removing a blood stain from your carpet. Mix the power with a small amount of warm water and then apply the mixture to the blood stain by either spraying or pouring it on. After letting it sit up to 5 minutes, you should be able to use a clean cloth to blot away the stain.
– Salt Paste: If you have delicate carpet fibers, making a paste with salt and warm water can be a way to carefully remove a blood spill. Spread the paste on the soiled carpet and let it sit up to 5 minutes before rinsing and removing the blood stain with a clean, white cloth.
– Dish Soap: Liquid dish soap can be another effective tool in removing a blood stain. Fill up a buck with warm water and 2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap. Get a clean, white cloth completely saturated with the mixture and then saturate the blood stain. Carefully work to blot it up.
